There is a saying, "If its too good too be true, well, it probably is". NOT THE CASE WITH DAVID HARRIS PDS AND ARIC HARRIS !!!!!!!! I spent much time and research on Personal Protection Dogs, but still always had doubts. But those doubts were erased went by chance I found David Harris. I left a message, and promptly received a call back from David Harris himself !

I had a special situation in my home, as my husband, as a child , was attacked my their 200 lb family pet St Bernard. Needless I say, he didn't want a big dog, let alone a personal protection dog, and a German Shepherd??? My husband underwent facial surgery to reconstruct his face for 10 years after the attack. BUT, after numerous emails, phone conversations, and countless hours watching David's videos, his method of training, his philosophy of raising these dogs, my husband COULD NOT WAIT, to meet David, Aric and the dogs!!!! Long story short, David picked out a dog he thought would be perfect for us.... among a few others. We had the absolute pleasure of meeting David, and Aric and spending a day with them. Neither of them pushed us into making any hasty decisions of picking out a dog. David had told me he knew my heart would tell me the right choice. He easily could have pushed us into a dog several thousand dollars more. But he never did. The dog he picked for us, was the one who chose us!!!

Ghaige Von Prufenpuden, now with the middle name of "Gabriel", after Gabriel the Archangel, as he truly is our protector and angel. David knows his dogs, their personalities, their idiosyncrasies. I cannot say enough good things about PDS. They are kind, honest and have integrity. Do I have any doubts about this dog? Any doubts that if someone crashed thru my door, and came at us, any doubts that if i was threatened, that he would protect me? I I have not a doubt in my mind, that Ghaige would lay down his life for me if needed.

"It is a pleasure to write a testimonial for you so that prospective buyers can receive helpful feedback on you and the protection dogs you provide. I searched across North America in my quest to find a protection dog AS WELL as a family dog. We wanted to have a well trained, responsive, well bred protection dog but equally important to us was a dog that would integrate well into our family that included two young children. Sometimes it seems we have more than two children as their friends tend to congregate at our home! Our children and their friends are very active, it is not uncommon for them to engage in make believe battle games ranging from pirates brandishing swords to NAVY Seals on special ops so at the back of our minds was always the question of whether a protection dog would be able to distinguish these play attacks from the real thing. Our search for the perfect four legged family member had us speaking to close to 25 “professionals” in the protection dog field. Some were instantly crossed off our list after hearing comments that ranged from “ Our dogs are trained to attack you must never ever leave them alone, let alone with children” to “do not allow other children to hold anything in their hands while playing with your children” - Others upon detailed discussions were “taking orders” for dogs that were in Europe, would ship them, then keep them in their facility for 1 week then forward them on to us.

As wonderful as these dogs could be it left us wondering about the lack of history and short 1 week training program stateside. What if issues surfaced after 1 week? When I happened upon David’s website, and my first conversation with David, there was an immediate sense of trust. I presented our situation and David immediately outlined the dogs he thought would work best in our family. "Seven Years Ago at a very difficult time in my life I found myself needing a highly trained protection dog. I found the ad for Protection Dog Sale and placed the call. Upon hearing of my situation I was told about several dogs they had for sale that would fit my needs. Due to not being able to get to Frankfort that day, yet desperately needing something to give me peace-of-mind, they had one of their trainers bring a dog (CJ, a two year old personal protection trained German Shepherd) to my home.

I ended up buying this dog and have never regretted it. In fact over the years I have purchased two more trained Shepherds as well as referring numerous friends that have also purchased dogs from them. Included in the purchase price of this highly trained dog were classes for me to learn how to handle this type of dog. We started attending obedience classes that David held at a local park during the week and also attended personal protection classes on the weekend in Frankfort. I have been very thankful and impressed with the level of training that not only CJ's received but that I have received as well.

In fact our training has enabled CJ to earn her CD title, but not just earn, we came in first 3 out of 5 times, once scoring a 196 1/2 out of a possible 200! CJ and I have also done numerous demo days and have been featured on the six o'clock news in a special report that Fox ran on how women today can protect themselves. Thus proving how stable and versatile dogs purchased from Protection Dog Sales are. Over the years CJ and I have moved, first to NC and now to SC, however, we still travel to KY at least once a year to train with CSU.

Knowing that age is creeping up on CJ I realize it is time to buy another sport/personal protection dog (my other dogs are purely for home protection). "To anyone interested in learning how to get the most from your dog; I became aware of David Harris in 1998. I had just purchased my 1st gsd from a "back yard breeder" and was telling a respected older lady in the community about my puppy. She emphatically told me of her history of owning gsd's and how the best dogs she ever owned where trained by David. I immediately scheduled an appointment with David.

Never working with a dog trainer before I did not know what to expect. I quickly discovered David's training is as much about teaching the dog owner how to train their dog as it is about him training the dog. He introduced me to techniques like "shaping", "positive reinforcement", "clicker training", "corrections" etc. Even though, over the course of 1 year, we only had 9 training sessions I had a wonderful & obedient gsd. Due to medical issues I had to put my gsd down in 2009.

In 2011 I decided to get another gsd. Without hesitation I contacted David. He had a litter ready for sale so I purchased a dark sable male from him. David's training stayed consistent from 1998. With my new puppy only 9 weeks old we began shaping techniques, clicker training and positive reinforcement techniques. It is amazing how quickly a puppy can learn without ever receiving a correction. In closing I would like to say that I dearly loved my 1st gsd, Sampson. He was an awesome companion and family pet, however, I do see differences between him and my current gsd Champ.

Even though Champ is only 7 months old I already see more true gsd characteristics in him. This is due to David only breeding high quality gsd's. Champ has a "steadiness" and mental toughness that is different from my previous gsd. With continued training I am excited to see my puppy develop into an awesome adult dog as he has already became a highly valued extension of our family which consist of my wife, our 6 and 12 year old boys, our Westie and our cat."

"I came to David with a very specific request. I had just bought an 8 week old working line Doberman that I wanted to train for protection. I also wanted to have an effective protection dog that would double as a sociable pet and especially around children. For the past 12 years I have been working with David and have owned two of his GSDs. The lessons learned and knowledge gained from my first dog, Jerry Lee von Prufenpuden, and current dog, Cupid von Prufenpuden, are things I will never be able to thank him enough for. The most important quality, I believe, in David's breeding and training is the sense of balance that his dogs have between work and family. Training working dogs, not to mention competing with them, was the farthest thing from my mind back when I first decided to work with David; I simply wanted a well behaved GSD. What I didn't realize was that I'd crossed paths with a man who would teach and equip me with the knowledge and tools I needed to participate in wonderful sports and to understand and communicate with dogs in ways I thought to be impossible. Jerry Lee was my first dog from David. In August of 2001, my 11 year old daughter, 10-month-old Jerry, and I earned our AKC Companion Dog Title in Lexington, KY. We would later earn an AKC CDX, a Sch BH, and SchH1. As so often happens, real life tookover and Jerry spent the rest of his life traveling the country to far flung softball fieldswhile entertaining young and old alike withhis tricks and Frisbee skills. Jerry had a very serious side as well and on more than one occasion he was there without hesitation to change the minds of people that wished me harm. He was a one in a million dog. For the past 18 months I've been training with David and my dog Cupid. Cupid is the quintessential competition/family protection dog. Physically he is very athletic and extremely powerful. He has crazy prey and ball drives that evoke awe and laughter at the same time. This past November we earned a Sch BH and, more importantly, the praise of a highly respected judge. Cupid loves puppies, small dogs, children, and is a pleasure to live with. At 25 months of age he is maturing. That, combined with his solid black coat, yellow eyes, and flashing white teeth, makesa formidable package. He loves to work. I have been training with David for the past year when I brought to him my 11 week old Doberman Capone. Our first meeting Capone was not confident and peed himself when he got nervous. It didn’t take long for David to mold Capone into the very obedient family protection dog that he is now. As a owner of five company's that employ over three hundred people, and the parents of seven children we are very limited with our time. Not only limited in our time to find a dog, but to train one as well. When we had decided to add a German Shepherd to our family we began the search.
